Happy Monday everyone! ♥︎
After the massive success of Makeup Revolution’s Conceal & Define concealer (£4) which I can testify is amazing quality and way up there with high-end concealers, the brand’s Fast Base (£5) release was greatly anticipated.
Shade F3- Unedited image
When it comes to foundation I tend to stick with what I know, as a.) it’s an easy product to get wrong and b.) it’s a pricey product to waste. But for £5 I decided to guess my shade online and ended up getting shade F3, a touch lighter than my go-to Lancôme foundation in the shade 010 although I think it’s not too bad of a match to the rest of my body (especially with all the snow and lack of sun we’ve been getting). But being paler was a bit weird for me and I’m not sure how I feel about it…
Round 1 & 2
The first time I used this foundation, I wasn’t a fan… it sat on my forehead and nose oddly, making me look a bit chalky. Do you see what I mean? It just looks a bit odd.
I gave it second go the next day and exfoliated and then moisturised my skin before foundation application. I put more on this time and used a oval brush instead of my go to buffer brush, the prep beforehand and the different brush really improved the finish. My face looked really flawless and better overall. I really enjoyed wearing it. HOWEVER…
After a 20 min walk to the station I found that the foundation had transferred really easily on my nose and left it patchy. Which you can sort of see in the second the picture. Maybe it’s because my skin is on the drier side?
It is the full coverage foundation that’s all over Instagram and is creamy and blendable. Like the name suggests it’s quick and easy to use, and would be perfect for makeup on the go.
For £5 it is an amazing foundation, as the pigmentation and coverage is incredible and that’s what people have been going nuts over. I can say from this it is worth the hype… BUT if you take away the price point and compare it to other foundations on the market it is an okay foundation for me as I it transferred easily. If you’re on a budget I think this would be a good addition to your makeup collection. Personally I’ll still use it for photos and when I don’t need longevity in my base makeup as the initial application is great.
The Fast Base hasn’t replaced my high-end favourites that don’t transfer as easily and don’t require as much skin prep.
BF verdict- Sam likes the paler colour on me, although he can tell it’s not my usual £32 foundation. Of course he was the first to point out my rudolf nose poking through my foundation!
