Is this £4 concealer worth the hype?

Hello again!

Tarte’s Shape Tape (£22) concealer is thought to be the best concealer on the market, can we just take a moment to boo the small shade range for the Shape Tape Foundations that have just launched, I just think it’s poor that in 2018 brands aren’t reaching out to all skin tones. Anyway… Makeup Revolution’s new Conceal & Define concealer (£4), is thought to be a dupe of the Shape Tape concealer, I’ve never tried it so can’t compare it to that, but I’ll be comparing it to my favourite concealers from ColourPop and Collections (both purse friendly, yay!).

The applicator is big so a swipe of the face is effortless and quick. The doe foot applicator picks up A LOT of product and I find for it’s size dotting the product on the face is technique I personally prefer, it just gives more control and less chance of caking.

The Formula

It’s blends out beautifully as it’s so pigmented and creamy. It brightens the under eyes and conceals my red cheeks. It dries down to a matte finish and doesn’t crease (for me at least). When it comes to wear I get six to seven hours, nothing lasts longer than that with the fluorescents at work unfortunately… But I have been experimenting to see if I can last the whole day, although I find touch ups are a definite must! If you have some tips please share!

Shades 3, 7 & 13 [Top- Bottom] (Ignore my terrible swatching)

I have three shades as I frantically ordered two on the day of release, shades 7 and 13. Clearly I’m not a shade 13 but I wanted to see if it would work well to contour with. It blends out flawlessly into the foundation, but it was insanely warm on my face. Note to self: don’t try new face products when you’re getting ready for work! Shade 7 is too dark and was an impulse buy cause there weren’t any lighter shades, I don’t regret getting it though as shade 3 is a bit too light for a more natural look so I add a dot of 7 to get a great match.

The pigmented formula and the thick consistency that blends out evenly giving an airbrushed finish have me questioning this concealer, it feels like it should be way more expensive, not just £4! This concealer is definitely a bargain and I highly recommend it! Grab yours at Superdrug while you can, they’re selling out everywhere!

Have you tried this concealer? What’s your favourite budget buy ATM? – Be sure to comment to let me know! ♥︎

  1. Thanks for this! started seeing this product over the last week or so and dying to try it! I’m a HUGE advocate of budget/ drugstore brands rather than high-end – I believe you don’t need to spend a load of money to look just as good and get the same performance out of your makeup, so this was right up my alley. Looking forward to seeing more! 🙂
