Hello and Happy Thursday!
Being a typical millennial I played with My Little Ponies growing up in the nineties, I was really girlie so loved the bright colours and their cuteness (maybe I still do..!). I have some of my ponies in storage, and had to get them out for this post! What drew me to ColourPop’s collaboration with My Little Pony wasn’t the shades of the products rather the packaging, some of the colours are a little out there for me so I steered clear of some of the products like Flutterfly, the gold lip gloss, gold on the lips is just a no for me.
The palette ($16) has 12 eyeshadows with a mixture of mattes and metallics. The combination of colours is great as it allows you to do a full look, transition shades and all! I love this as I hate fishing through palettes to complete a look, it’s just too much hassle. These aren’t the creamiest shadows I’ve ever used, but the pigmentation is there and they can be buffed out well so it’s all blended.
Prickly Pear, Coconut (satin finish), Posey, Cherries Jubilee, Trickles (Highlighter)
I love ColourPop’s Super Shock Shadows ($5), their like a hybrid shadow as their sort of wet feeling but they sit dry on the eye. I’m a mega fan as the pigmentation is so intense. These were the products I was most excited for and I was gutted that I missed out on the pastel purple shade, but I managed to bag the other two. Honestly, I was slightly disappointed as their not as intense as previous Super Shock Shadows I’ve tried, these are more glittery and sheer. I put that down to them being ‘ultra-glitters’ and being such light shades, as Prickly Pear is this formula and it’s superior in pigmentation. All’s not lost as you can build them up, I guess I was just expecting something a bit more in your face.
Out of all the lip products in the collection I went for probably the least wacky and got the lipgloss Ponyland ($6), a pinky purple hue which is packed with glitter. The gloss is comfortable and wears nicely.
The highlighter Trickles ($8) is a finely milled powder which gives a soft iridescent finish rather than a glittery chunky glow which some highlighters do. I’m not 100% sure how I feel about this product if I’m honest, what do you think (swatch above)?
Makeup Bag ($18)
ColourPop is starting to become one of my favourite makeup brands; their affordable and have a HUGE selection of products. There are no misses from me with this collection, but I a bit uncertain with how I feel about the highlighter. Everything is pretty reasonably priced and I think I’ll use the palette a lot.
If you’re looking for a grown-up sophisticated collection this isn’t for you, it definitely is for us big kids out there!
What do you think of this collection? What’s your favourite ColourPop product?- Be sure to comment!
