It feels unnatural for me not to apply some form of contour when I go through my makeup routine. The face isn’t just one flat colour (someone please tell 15 year old me that!), so contour is great to give a bit colour to the face as well as shaping it a bit. I’ve gotten pretty pale this month with the weather change and had to change up my makeup. I’m currently on the hunt for a new foundation so if you have any recommendations let me know. The Insta Contour Stick from Rimmel is now a bit too dark for me, as a warm (orange) tone which is better for warmer months.

Maybelline Master Contour V Stick | Hit or Miss? - MAHALA

For a few weeks now I’ve been giving Maybelline’s Master Contour V Stick (£7.99) in the shade light a whirl, the 2-in-1 contour cream contour leaves a matte finish. The chubby stick has the product combined like a half and half pencil, after a week or so of use the sides would come together a bit on my face which is a little annoying, although they are creamy and smooth so blend together well so you’d never know. On a whole the product is easy to use, you keep the side you want to use fairly flat against the skin and gently drag it.

The contour is cool toned so it definitely hits the mark with what I wanted. It blends well and can be easily built up for a more extreme contour, although I find small swipes are enough for me. I then set my whole face with transparent powder and spritz with a setting spray.

When it comes to the highlight it’s sort of meh. It blends well and brightens, although the shade isn’t the best match for me and the coverage isn’t the best, it’s pretty minimal. I feel any sort of creme/ cream (whatever you want to call it) isn’t as good as liquid concealers for matte highlight of the face.

Overall, I like this product as I love the contour side. It’s a great shade for me, it’s affordable and it’s so easy to use. I just have to ignore the highlight side. I really need to move on from the whole 2 sided contour sticks, the highlight side is always a disappointment! I guess it’s half a hit.
