Rimmel Insta Contour Stick | REVIEW

Hello again!

It’s no secret that I follow the Kardashian/Jenner clan. I’ve bought into Kylie Cosmetics big time, although recently I’ve slowed down after a couple of disappointments. When Kim came out with her creme contour collection I had to talk myself out of buying it, and boy am I happy I did! Looking at reviews the formula looks perfect for me, but the lack of actual product for the high price ($48) was a plain rip off. My sister sent me a video from Revelist which showed the contour stick only had 23 uses… 23! That’s not even a month’s worth! After seeing that I definitely think I’ve dodged a bullet.

Rimmel Insta Contour Stick | REVIEW- MAHALA

The other month I came across Rimmel’s Contour Stick (£6.99) from their Insta line. You can guess from the name, it’s a line that’s supposedly going to make you look instagram ready. With my pale face I tried out this product in the shade Light, which is one of three shades in the collection. The dual ended product has a creme contour shade and a creme shimmer highlighter.

The contour looks a bit warm for my complexion. On application I was a bit worried about this! I find a light hand and applying a small amount at a time prevents the complexion getting too warm. The product is really creamy and blends out well with a flat buffer brush, and once blended out it looks quite natural.

The highlighter feels a bit stiffer and is harder to work with, especially on the cheekbones. I found that on couple of occasions it would lift some of my foundation, which was annoying. Rather than drag the product like a crayon, like I did with the contour creme I sort of dabbed this one and it worked much better. Personally I think it works best on the cupids bow and on the nose. It gives a softer highlight rather than a blinding glow, so I do go over it with a powder highlighter anyway… My go to at the moment is Revolution’s Vivid Baked Highlighter in the shade Peach Lights (£3).

Top tip- Apply all liquid and creme products first, then apply powder to set. Putting creme products on top of powder will cause a break up of product and make you look patchy!

You get quite a lot of product with this stick, so I’m sure I’ll be getting more than 23 uses! I really like the contour end, although when it comes the highlighter I’m not too fussed. It also wears nicely throughout the day. If you’re new to the world of contouring and looking for an easy product to use, this is for you. For the price point I think this product is pretty good and it gets a thumbs up from me.

Did you get your hands on the KKW Beauty creme contour stick? What’s your fave contour product?- Be sure to comment to let me know! ♥︎

  1. I’ve been seeing this everywhere recently, have no idea why I haven’t tried it! Definitely need to!! Followed you Hun because I love your posts xx

    1. I think it’s ok, it’s great for blurring pores and setting foundation but I find sometimes it leaves the face a bit too pale. I prefer Rimmel’s original Stay Matte pressed powders if I’m honest ♥︎
