When it comes to makeup I have a lot of products that considerably range in price. On Tuesday I shared my favourite budget pieces that I wear on a daily basis, today I’m flipping to the other side and going to talk about higher end pieces which I’ve been enjoying for several months. I know some of the pieces aren’t excessively high-end, but they’re pricey enough for it to make your purse considerably lighter if you’re a student like me.
The Double Wear foundation (£32.50) is an odd one for me, I originally hated it as it sat funny on my skin and separated. After having a better skincare routine, I gave this product a second chance and it’s now my favourite foundation. It dries very quickly so I apply a small amount at a time and blend well. I find this foundation looks great when my skin is moisturised and it amazingly holds up in the summer heat. It definitely gives the Instagram skin I long for. If you have dry skin, I would recommend you give this product a miss as it will cling to all your dry areas. My only problem with this product is that it doesn’t have a pump and foundation just gets everywhere, like you can see!
When it comes to contouring you’ll already know I use NYX’s Sculpt & Hightlight, for added definition I go over this with Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer (£24.50). Being a pale English girl I go lightly with this product as too much bronzer can make the complexion look muddy. I really want to try Hoola Light to see how it compares to the original.
My favourite eyebrow product of all time is Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Dipbrow (£15), it’s creamy and pigmented giving strong on trend brows. Honestly, I’ve had to practice with this product as on more than one occasion I have looked like a Disney villain, as it’s so pigmented! The trick with the Dipbrow is to pick up a little product at a time.
There’s mixed reviews when it comes to the Better Than Sex mascara (£19, full size), with many people saying it clumps and becomes thick over time. I personally haven’t experienced this but I do bin my mascara every two months due to hygiene purposes. My two months are nearly up and I haven’t had the dreaded clumping. I love the hourglass shape of the wand as it extends the lashes beautifully and gives them great volume. I’m currently using a mini version I got in the Better Together duo.
During the day I tend to go for a nude lip, one my favourites is Patisserie (£16.50) from MAC. This lipstick is a creamy pink nude which has a soft shine finish. It doesn’t dry the lips and fades nicely, which is perfect for during the day when you can’t always reapply.
I will definitely buy these products again when they’re empty, I personally find they’re worth paying a bit extra for. What are your favourite high-end products? What posts do you want to see here on my blog?- Be sure to leave a comment to let me know!
