Time and time again, people have been recommending Maybelline’s Age Rewind Eye Concealer (£8.99) to me. Like several beauty products on the market, this concealer has a slight gimmick, that you turn the head for the product to come out. Unfortunately, this is problematic when it comes to buying it in your local store as everyone has been screwing the heads round, so nasty dried product is on the applicator even though the lid is still securely on. After finally finding one in the lightest shade light I was excited to see if all the hype around this product was warranted.
Swatches! Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer (light), Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer (light) [Top-Bottom]
The applicator is soft and applies the product smoothly, without putting too much on at a time. I’m a big fan of the soft applicator as my under eye area is sensitive to plastic bristle applicators like those found on the LA Girl Pro-concealers. When it comes to the gimmick, it stops you from wasting product which I’ve done on occasion with squeezy concealers. The pigmented formula blends out nicely and sits well on the skin.
Top Tip- When looking for a concealer you should go a shade or two lighter than your foundation shade as it will brighten darker areas and help your skin to look brighter and healthier.
The major downside for me with this product is that it’s too dark for me and this is the lightest shade! To deal with this problem I have been applying a few dots of lighter concealer to it, it does the job of being lighter, but it’s not ideal. If you are very pale I would recommend passing up on this product as shade matching is more important than having a good formula to work with. If Maybelline releases lighter shades in the future I will definitely buy one!
Do you love this concealer? Do you find there needs to be more shades when it comes to concealers and foundations?- Be sure to comment to let me know.
