Kylighter | REVIEW

Hello everyone, hope you had a great long weekend!

Highlighters are one of the most coveted makeup products in the beauty community this year, it seems everyone wants a heavenly glow. Being as pale as I am, I find it difficult to find a highlighter which doesn’t make me look like the tin man or a golden statue. White and pinky toned shades seem to be the best for me, and my all time favs from the Carli Bybel palette will be gone sooner than I think, that’s why I purchased Kylie Cosmetics’ Kylighter in the shade Cotton Candy Cream as the colour looked a good fit and once again I fell in love with the packaging.

Swatches! Cotton Candy Cream, 2 lightest shades from Carli Bybel Palette (Top- Bottom)

Swatch of Barely Legal Blush

The drip design and the overall packaging didn’t disappoint when I first opened it up. The actual product however, has been a disappointment. The pigmentation just isn’t there. Considering the Carli Bybel palette which is a Bh Cosmetics (cheaper end) collaboration, the pigmentation is far superior to Kylie’s. Feeling softer and thicker to the touch. In the swatch photo I had to go over the Kylighter A LOT to get a decent(ish) swatch, whereas for the others I went in once! Recently I seem to have been let down with products from Kylie Cosmetics, finding the blush in the shade Barely Legal being fairly faint although with easy build up and being scared of looking like a clown from too much pigmentation, I can sort of move past the disappointment.

Kylighter | REVIEW- MAHALA

I’ve tried fan brushes big and small, fluffy brushes and even flat foundation brushes to try and pick up the pressed powder. Even how hard I try the glow just isn’t there. The minimal glow it gives you is good enough for everyday wear, but for photos and going out this just doesn’t cut it. I’m hoping with more use the pressed powder will loosen in the pan making the product easier to pick up, giving a girl a bit more pigmentation.

I honestly think it’s just this shade which is poor as searches on the internet has shown this shade isn’t that bright and the others are more pigmented. But some of the other shades on my pale skin would look bizarre, so I’m back on the hunt for a decent light shaded highlighter. Ultimately, the Kylighter in Cotton Candy Cream gets a thumbs down from me.

What’s your favourite highlighter? Have you tried any Kylighters?- Be sure to comment to let me know!
