As promised here’s my review of Garnier’s new Soothing Botanical Cleansing Milk with Rose Water (bit of a mouthful, right?), the smell of this product really brings me back to my childhood in America for some reason. I was initially attracted to this product as it’s pink and I’m a big fan of the brand. When I uploaded it to social media a week or so ago, a lot of people hadn’t heard of it before and honestly neither had I. I don’t have a TV license, so I just live off of advert free Netflix, relying on social media to tell me what the next best thing is, but for this product I haven’t heard anything other than one Instagram advert.
So what is it? It is a creamy cleanser that removes your makeup, as well as you’re eye makeup. It feels a bit odd to be putting a lotion anywhere near the eye area but it’s better than the Micellar Gel Wash I recently reviewed.
The lotion itself is overpowering in it’s rose fragrance and I have to admit I was disappointed it wasn’t pink. You use this product the same as the classic Micellar Water, drenching cotton wool and wiping away the day’s makeup. It removes my makeup well, although I find it doesn’t leave the skin as refreshed and clean as the original. It takes my mascara off my lashes but doesn’t clean it away off the face as easily as the water, even my boyfriend has pointed this out to me.
The milk contains coconut which leaves the skin feeling really hydrated and soft. When I use this before bed, my skin is moisturised for the following day and I’ve been skipping out moisturising before my makeup routine as my skin really doesn’t need it. However, I have experienced a slight stingy sensation when using this product on the skin under my eyes, this is where the skin of the face in considerably thinner. This feeling does last for a few hours for me, nothing major enough for me to be concerned, but it’s a slight tingle. This product is supposedly meant for dry and sensitive skin, which surprises me as I’ve had a slight reaction to it. Perhaps it’s the rose fragrance or the coconut I’m having issues with?
Final verdict- I like this product to remove foundation and brow products, as it does it quickly and leaves the skin hydrated and soft. In the future I’ll stick to using Micellar Water for the eyes and under eye makeup to avoid irritation. If you’ve got dry skin like me I think this product would help nourish your face without feeling heavy or greasy. It also kills two birds with one stone, by removing your makeup and moisturising your skin. I wouldn’t say I have sensitive skin, so I would advise those who do that this isn’t the most suited cleansing product available for your skin type as I reacted to it.
