You’ve probably seen the videos of women (and men!) in agonising pain trying to remove blackhead masks which have been all over the internet, and if you’re a bit sadistic which I must be, I’ve seen a fair few. I love trying out new fads and removing impurities from my skin, so the combination sounds like fun to me (lame ikr!).

My sister picked up this Purifying Peel-off Mask from Amazon for about £6 and warned me of the pain it gave her. So I was intrigued to try it out and see if I had the balls to tear it off.

Peel-Off Mask- MAHALADirections:

-Cleanse the skin

-Apply to the face (I use a brush to apply, saves trying to pull it off you painted nails!)

-Leave for 20-30 minutes

-Peel off time!

So when I used it the first time I was really disappointed, there was no pain! But it did remove quite a lot of nasty blackheads and I suppose dead skin. Why didn’t I get the dreaded pain? I think I avoided the pain as I only applied it to problem areas and applied it thinly, so I tried it another time thicker and everywhere. As it dried my skin became really tight and constricted. After a bit of TV and some nail painting (I’m trying to stop biting them!) I was ready for my new skin. Trying to peel it off around my my chin and cheeks was incredibly painful, clinging to baby hairs and my skin. It took me a good five minutes to remove it as honestly I needed little breaks, as it was agonising.

Exfoliating Cleansing Pads- MAHALAA few minutes after removing the mask my skin was a little pink and throbbed, the saying beauty is pain really applies here as the mask left my skin feeling fresh and clear. The days after my skin felt smooth and smooth skin equals better foundation application, which is great. Would I recommend it? I’ll use it again, but as it caused quite a lot of pain, I’m not going to recommend it as I don’t want my lovely followers experiencing the mega pain I went through! Think I’ll head back to my cleansing exfoliating pads and sheet masks, which are less invasive to the skin.

I love face masks, I find them a perfect way to relax and destress, so I’m always on the hunt for new ones to try. Have you tried a painful peel-off mask? Do you have a favourite face mask?- Be sure to comment to let me know!
