Double Wear Cushion Stick Foundation

A couple of weeks ago I completely tore into the much beloved Double Wear Foundation (£30) from Estēe Lauder. It sat patchy on my skin, being the worst foundation I’ve ever tried. Considering the foundation was pretty pricey and that it sat beautifully on in store, I contacted the brand. The original online help, was pretty insulting telling me it didn’t sit well as I hadn’t cleansed enough. So I sent an email as I hadn’t received the answers or help I needed. After several emails back and forth, the team send me the Double Wear Nude Cushion Stick Radiant Makeup (£28), which is pretty new.

The foundation is not the same as the normal Double Wear Foundation, it is more fluid giving a more natural lighter coverage. Personally, I think this is perfect for the day, I’d rather go for a heavier coverage for night. The whole gimmick of the product is really good, you simply twist the longer gold side (the bottom) slightly to get the foundation to come out of the middle of the sponge. You then dab it on and apply it with the build in sponge. I was a bit sceptical, but the foundation goes on beautifully. The only problem I encounter was that if you push down too hard with the sponge you’ll get jabbed with a really sharp tube, where the foundation comes out.

You are meant to wash the sponge frequently like any makeup brush or sponge, I’m yet do this but I think it will be quite an easy. Just have to avoid getting any water into the foundation!

I think this foundation is perfect for those of you who aren’t big into heavy foundation or want a quick and easy to go foundation. I think this is perfect for makeup top ups during the day, I will definitely be keeping it in my handbag!

Moral of the story, if you aren’t happy with something or you think it’s substandard like I did, contact the company to see if you are doing something wrong or if the product is faulty. Ultimately, you might get a replacement or a better suited product!

Have you tried this foundation? What do you think of the Double Wear foundations?- Be sure to comment to let me know!

  1. I’ve been wanting to try the Double Wear Foundation for some time now but after reading this review I’m not quite sure. I think the Double Wear Nude Cushion Stick Radiant Makeup seems better. I’ll have to have a look at both these items in store next time x

    1. I definitely say have the foundation applied on in store and wear it for a while and make your own judgement as everyone’s skin is different. Although I do love the cushion one! I already follow your blog 😛 x

  2. I’ve always heard such good things about Double Wear but have heard it’s pretty awful on dry skin. Do you think the stick is anymore moisturising? Congrats on getting a new foundation off the Estée Lauder team, girl!!x

    1. I have never thought of my skin as being dry (only is the winter), personally I would describe it as combination verging more on oily. So that’s why I was so surprised that it never sat on my skin well. I do think the stick is more moisturising, my skin doesn’t feel dry whilst wearing it or when I take it off. I do however, think the Touche éclat foundation from YSL is more moisturising on the skin, I did a review of it a week or so ago on my blog. Haha thanks, I was surprised they send me it! x
