The key component to any makeup look, which can either go one way or the other. Is foundation. We’ve all made the mistake of our face not matching the rest of our body. I have done this more than most, being as incredibly pale as I am, finding a genuinely good base for my face is difficult. I’ve been anything from white as a sheet to a tangerine, during my fake tan years.
I am always on the lookout for a good match, so when I was purchasing my Juicy Shaker (£18) from Lancôme I decided to treat my face to a new foundation. The fact that I got £84 worth of goodies free from the two purchases might have helped!
After having a colour match session with an assistant I bought Teint Idole Ultra 24H (£30) in the shade 010 which has a pleasant subtle perfumed smell. It is by far superior to my usual foundation, Pro Longwear SPF 10 Foundation by Mac (£25.50) in the shade NC15. It is thinner and silkier, although the overall coverage I would say is the same to the Mac. This is what I was looking for as I like to cover my red cheeks! My face feels much smoother and the colour match is better. I was also experiencing patchiness with my Mac foundation within the last few weeks, which is not present with the Lancôme. Now I thought this might be due to it being three months old, but the foundation is supposedly good for two years… So I don’t know why it’s gone patchy?!
One thing I would urge anyone to do, is when buying foundation go to the beauty counter, no matter what company you are going to (Mac, Benefit, Lancôme etc.) get a colour match done. I’m always trying to sort myself out when it comes to makeup, but swatching your hand is not always going to match your face. Splurging on foundation can be an expensive business so don’t waste your money on a terrible match. On a whole, I’m very happy with my new foundation and would recommend it highly.
